Well, I have been using HostGator hosting service for around 3 years now, and if you know what you have and how to use it, like me, it’s great.
Great uptime. Great support. Easy billing. I have no complaints. Myself, I love cPanel. You also get the WHM (WebHost Manager). With alot of the other hosts, you only get the Cpanel and you have to use add-on domains and point them to a directory on your main site if you plan on setting up more than one domain or database.

So, in closing, would I recommend HostGator? If you have been building websites for 10 or more years, and need to setup several static sites, some maybe with databases for several names, then YES.
But, if you are setting up picture hosting sites, warez sites or anything to that degree, then no, they are not for you.
